CACAO is not only a food; it's a Super Food, Super Fruit & Super Delicious

Cacao is not only the most delicious food on earth and a heart medicine but it is also a superfood meaning that it comes with many physical health benefits for our body.

The ancient Mayan culture believed Cacao to be an essential part of the diet, complimentary to that of corn. The corn represents the light, the solar energy and the physical body. Cacao represents the earth, the darkness, creation and rebirth. It is grown in the shadows and it holds the secret to life.

The Mayans had a special relationship with Pachamama. They respected her, and in turn received wisdom and guidance from her. They understood that the combination of both life and death was essential

and that these two highly valued crops would provide nourishment and guide them into living a fully embodied existence.

Now it's time to get all nerdy or intellectual badass!

Each Cacao pod is full of Cacao beans which are rich in vitamins and minerals. Cacao is a source of non -heme Iron (as is all plant iron), Potassium, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Beta-Carotene, Omega 6, Phosphorus, Selenium and Amino Acids which all helps to maintain the physical body.

Cacao has the highest level of antioxidants compared to all other foods. Including 40 times more than blueberries. Antioxidants are known to repair any damaged cells and help protect the body, prevent illness and reduce inflammation. They do this by fighting oxidative stress, neutralizing excess free radicals which are usually the trigger for colds, fatigue, fever and dis-ease.

Raw Cacao holds the highest known amount of Magnesium per gram on the planet. Sadly this is something that the majority of people are deficient in. Magnesium is essential for our daily energy; it helps maintain that laser sharp focus. It is crucial for a healthy brain and nervous system. It also helps our muscles, bones, teeth and much more.

Cacao contains high levels of flavanols (vitamin P) . They purify the blood cells and allow the arteries to become more flexible which can help to lower blood pressure, improve blood flow to the brain and heart, prevent blood clots, and fight cell damage.

The alchemical theobromine found in Cacao dilates the intestines and cardiovascular system allowing more nutrients to be absorbed. It helps to detoxify the liver, aids in weight loss and helps women reduce pms. It helps to fight fatigue and stimulate the nervous system. It is great for the immune system, fighting inflammation and protects you from environmental and metabolic toxins. Cacao is in some ways similar to caffeine but has a little more of a calming effect and this is why many people often switch from a morning coffee to a cup of Cacao

Cacao is also a mood enhancer and you can find it filled with anandamide, tryptophan and serotonin, often referred to as the bliss chemicals. Drinking Cacao helps to elevate the heart rate, whilst keeping you grounded in a place of love over fear. Many times when we are stressed out after being at work all day or feeling sad many people will indulge in chocolate as a pick me up. But rather than load up on sugar and processed cocoa it would be more beneficial to switch to raw Cacao. As it is filled with Serotonin which is often referred to as the happiness hormone. In doing so this will stimulate the body's natural rhythm of serotonin and tryptophan.

Cacao is for sure a superfood and in my opinion chocolate is always a good idea!

Ciao Cacao
